What is oxidized bitumen

Oxidized bitumen — also known as blown or hard bitumen — is produced by air-blowing penetration grade bitumen to raise its softening point and stiffness for demanding, high-temperature applications such as waterproofing, roofing membranes, pipe coating, insulation and mastic asphalt. Grades are picked by softening point for the service temperature and by penetration for hardness. Tell us the application and we will match the grade.

Set the service temperature

Higher softening points (95/25, 105/35, 115/15) hold up in hot climates and high-heat industrial uses; lower ones (75/30, 85/25) suit general roofing and mastic.

Balance hardness & flexibility

Lower penetration means a harder, more brittle grade for insulation and coatings; higher penetration adds workability for waterproofing and membranes.

What oxidized bitumen is
